Tina Tyson

Tina joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2017.  Prior to her appointment at Yale, Tina served as Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer at Duke University, as Associate General Counsel at Washington University in St. Louis, and was an Associate at Bryan Cave LLP.  Tina earned her B.A. from Virginia Wesleyan College and her J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law. Her work focuses primarily in the practice areas of Health Law, International and Immigration Law, and Research.  Tina serves on the HIPAA Privacy and Security Advisory Committee.

Taylor Jones

Taylor joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2016.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Taylor served as a Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  Taylor earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Emory University and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a James Kent Scholar.  Taylor is admitted to practice only in New York; his work for the University is supervised by attorneys admitted in Connecticut.

Eric Veenstra

Eric joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2016.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Eric served as an Associate at Mayer Brown LLP.  Eric earned a B.A. in Russian and a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School. His work is focused primarily in the Real Estate & Construction practice area.

Peter Steinwachs

Peter joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2016.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Peter served as an Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and London and was an Associate Fellow at the Office of the General Counsel of the University of Southern California.  Peter earned his undergraduate degree from the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz (Germany) and his J.D. and LL.M. degrees from the University of Southern California. His work is focused in the University’s Investments Office.

Sohail Ramirez

Sohail joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2016.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Sohail served as an Associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson and at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.  Sohail earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Fordham University and his J.D. from Yale Law School. His work is focused in the University’s Investments Office.

Arabella Yip

Arabella joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2015.  Prior to her appointment at Yale, Arabella was in-house counsel at Bridgewater Associates, an Associate at Hogan Lovells, and in-house counsel at the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences.  Arabella earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Yale College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.  Her work focuses primarily in the practice areas of Digital Media & Information Technology and Intellectual Property. 

Mathew C. Varughese

Mat joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2011.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Mat served as Assistant Counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs of the New York City Health & Hospital Corporation and as Assistant Corporation Counsel of the Medical Litigation Unit for the New York City Law Department.  Mat earned his B.A. from Syracuse University and his M.P.A.

Susan Sawyer

Susan joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 1996.  Prior to her appointment at Yale, Susan served as Associate General Counsel at Christie’s Inc. and was an Associate at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP.  Susan earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Wellesley College and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.  Her work is focused primarily in the practices areas of Student & Academic Affairs and Trusts & Estates/Development. 

Harold Rose

Harold joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 1997.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Harold clerked for the Honorable Ellen B. Burns of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, served as a Development Officer for the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, and as a correspondent for AP-Dow Jones News Service in Hong Kong.  Harold earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and his J.D.

Kenneth Miller

Ken joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 1987.  Prior to his appointment at Yale, Ken worked at the Federal Trade Commission and was an Associate at Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge, and at Berman, Dittmar, & Engel.  Ken earned his B.A. from Yale College, his M.Phil. from Oxford University, his J.D. from Harvard Law School, and his M.P.P.
