About the Office of Federal RelationsThe Office of Federal Relations coordinates the University’s federal relations efforts. It monitors developments in federal legislative and administrative policies and advocates for policies and programs benefiting higher education and research and further the University’s mission. The Office follows a broad range of issues including student financial aid, funding for research, and legislation and regulation affecting intellectual property, immigration and visas, and tax rules affecting charitable organizations, as well as many other topics. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Federal Relations, the OFR maintains continuing contact with the federal Administration, the Executive branch agencies, and Congress, especially the Connecticut Congressional delegation as well as Yale alumni in Congress. Yale works closely with peer universities, Washington-based higher education associations, scientific societies, and others in advancing the University’s interests. The Office consults widely within Yale in assessing the likely effect of federal policies on Yale and strives to keep interested members of the Yale community apprised of current developments in federal policies relevant to the University. Members of the Yale community who have concerns about the effect of certain federal policies on Yale, or who would like information about Congressional or Executive branch activities affecting the Universities, are encouraged to contact the Associate Vice President for Federal Affairs. Faculty members who plan to testify before Congress should consult with the Associate Vice President for Federal Relations for assistance and for information on communications made by the University on related federal matters. |
